Get a Logitech MK710 wireless mouse and keyboard for $34.99

Never underestimate the value of a good mouse and keyboard. The ones that come bundled with any desktop are almost sure to be flimsy, low-end products, the kind that can diminish your computing experience.

I’ve had the same high-quality Logitech combo for as long as I can remember; it’s lasted me through my last three PCs. So I have no qualms about recommending this: today only, and while supplies last, 1SaleADay has the refurbished Logitech MK710 Wireless Keyboard Combo for $ 34.99, plus $ 4.99 for shipping. It sells for nearly double just about everywhere else (and new from Logitech for $ 99.99).

This battery-powered pair connects to your desktop (or laptop) via a USB receiver. Each unit takes two AA batteries (not included, alas), which Logitech says will last for up to three years before needing replacement. That seems impossible, but even if they ran for one year, I’d be satisfied.

The height-adjustable keyboard features low-profile keys, an LCD “dashboard,” dedicated media-player buttons, and a built-in cushioned wrist-rest (a feature I totally love).

The laser mouse has a sculpted design and four programmable buttons, including two on the side you can use for forward/back navigation in Web pages (another feature I love).

And, finally, the whole MK710 kit just looks downright snazzy. It’s backed by a 90-day warranty, which is typical for refurbished gear. If you like, check the user reviews at Amazon, which average four starts out of five.

Bonus deal: Also today only, Yugster has the refurbished Slingbox Solo digital multimedia broadcaster for $ 94.97, plus $ 5 for shipping. Price for a new one: $ 179.99. I’ve never fully seen the appeal of these gizmos, but people who have ’em love ’em.

The Cheapskate
