So this is what it’s come to, hipster yuppies?

“Air multiplier?” Was “Holy Portal of the Winds” already taken?

Okay, we get it. You want to stand out. That’s why you got yourself a Dyson Air Multiplier 10” Bladeless Table Fan. “It’s not a fan,” you say, “a fan has blades!” This is why no one can take you seriously, you know that?

Of course it’s a fan. Yes, I know, by definition a fan has blades or vanes and this doesn’t. But you know what? It’s still a thing you set on your desk to blow air at your face and cool you down. It still oscillates 90 degrees to cool down everyone in the room. As far as we’re concerned, that makes it a fan.

Besides, if we’re sticking to a name because of what it does mechanically, is “air multiplier” any closer to the truth? It uses annular jets to draw in surrounding air and provide smooth, uninterrupted airflow without the choppy buffeting of fan blades, but does it actually create new air molecules? Where is the multiplication coming in, exactly?
