Boppy Nursing Pillow and Slipcover

In the three hours since Jessica had posted new photos of Bristol in her Boppy to her Facebook page, only four people had Liked them: Michelle, Alex, a co-worker, and some loser she only barely ever talked to in high school. Surely, she decided, this was some kind of mistake.

The site must be broken, she thought. That was the only possible explanation. After all, photos of Bristol had never gotten anything lower than twenty Likes in her whole life! In fact, her very first picture had scored a whopping fifty-seven Likes within an hour, not to mention the dozens upon dozens of congratulatory comments that were posted. Not that she expected that level of excitement. No, that would be unrealistic.

But still, who wouldn’t love the sight of her happy little bundle of wonder lounging on her Boppy Nursing Pillow? Jessica clicked through and reviewed each photo. There was Bristol laughing during tummy time. There she was supported by the pillow as she drank from the bottle Ryan was giving her. Gnawing on her rattle, staring at the ceiling fan, giving a gassy smile, every photo was ADORABLE. Of course they were! Jessica had picked out an outfit to match the slipcover and taken hundreds of shot to get the best ones.

But that awful Like counter told a different story, one too awful for Jessica to even contemplate.

She clicked the Refresh button on her browser again and again, but the number next to the little thumbs up sign refused to move. She quickly opened another tab and googled “is facebook down” and found no evidence that anything was wrong at all. Her breathing quickened. Her heart raced. She felt a rush of heat in her face as it flushed with blood. Could it be true? Could the unthinkable have happened? Could her perfect little angel be – gasp – old news?

Jessica pursed her lips in rage. Idiots, she thought. I’ll show them. No one’s going to treat my daughter like this. “Ryan!” she called out. “Would you please bring me some paper and a pen? I have to make a list of people we aren’t inviting to Bristol’s first birthday.”
