Vampire Vineyards Mixed Case (12)
Friday, July 13, 2012
It’s Friday the 13th, and so we thought it would be a good time to take a step back and consider one of the most frightening creatures of them all: vampires.
And what’s so frightening about them? No, it’s no longer all the whole sucking blood, turning into a bat, living for a thousand years stuff. Now what’s so scary about vampires is our obsession with them.
It all started with some books. And that’s fine, right? After all, vampires were basically born in books. From there, they started showing up in more movies. Still, that’s not a problem; everyone loves a good scare. The real problem is that it didn’t stop. They just kept making more books and more movies and then, of course, television had to get pulled into the fray. In the end, even our very history couldn’t be safeguarded against the vampire infection.
And now that they’ve sucked the entertainment industry dry, they’re coming after wine.
But don’t worry, this mixed case from Vampire Vineyards isn’t the Trueblood of wines; it doesn’t start off okay, then get gross, until finally it just goes flat. No, with 5 different varieties – including the gracefully fruity 2010 Merlot, the light, smooth 2010 Pinot Noir, among others – these wines represent the first time in a long time that the word “Vampire” has been affixed to something tasteful.
