Dyson DC17 – Refurbished

Ernie popped the champagne and laughed as it spilled over onto the Dyson DC17. “Whoops! Looks like I’m just gonna have to sell this one as refurbished! Any takers?” The room broke into laughter that slid into applause.
“You could do it, too!” shouted Ernie’s boss. “My number one guy! Number one!”
Ernie blushed and waved for silence.
“Guys, Gals, all my friends and foes… thank you so much for being here tonight, to celebrate my 1,000th vacuum sale. In the past year, I, humble vacuum salesman that I am, have discovered the secret to riches. You could say this Dyson DC17 right here has helped me-“
“-clean up!” yelled Ernie’s boss. “This guy, huh? Huh?” Ernie smiled politely and continued.
“Anyway, thanks to that goldmine of an apartment building, I’ve learned so much about myself, and my life. I’ve learned I’m NOT a poor salesman as I once believed. I’ve learned that I CAN do better in my personal life. And, most of all, I’ve learned the value of Level 3 Root Cyclone technology in the act of capturing microscopic dust in a washable lifetime HEPA filter.”
Everyone looked at each other uncomfortably. Ernie’s wife Marjorie noticeably absent from the party, but Ernie’s 21 year old “niece” was standing by the punch bowl clapping quietly. Ernie went on.
“Everyone, sleep well tonight. There will never be a layoff. There will never be a firing, unless you get in my way. Because as long as you’re a friend of King Ernie, this gravy train has room for us all! Now let’s get out there and sell some Dyson DC 17’s! And remember: I’m the one in charge now!”
Everyone tried to cheer politely, except for Ernie’s “niece” who did a little cheerleader kick. One of her high heels slid across the room by accident. Ernie’s boss ran quickly to pick it up. Ernie nodded as he watched. A man of his skill set deserved that sort of respect.
