January 24th, 1855 —

We remain at the foothills of the mighty Sierra Nevada Mountains. Heavy snows have rendered the path to California impassable. Yesterday, two of the Razor Ultra Pro Kick Scooters in our train broke down, halting all progress. It seems the Double TIG Welded Deck and Down Tube broke under the weight of an injured ox.

However, the logistical difficulties our party faces are nothing compared with dispirit and lost morale. I communicate to you in confidence, journal, when I write that we all are itching to resort to cannibalism as soon as possible.

Indeed, I get the sneaking suspicion that many in our party joined this journey simply for the opportunity to resort to cannibalism. I would decry this sentiment, dear journal, if I were not guilty myself. I long for the day when we all look at each other, nod grimly, and do what must be done.

Hark — the Razor scooters have been repaired. We move! Another grueling day of travel is in store, it seems, and another day deprived of the opportunity to resort to cannibalism. Perhaps tomorrow!
