“Me. You. This beautiful dinner. This lovely wine. The candlelight. Just… everything, just right. Could this night possibly be any more perfect?”

“I don’t know if you noticed, but I even thought about the cutlery.”

“It’s not just the 18/10 stainless steel blades. It’s also the serrated edges that make them so-“

“What did you just say?”

“That word. For the edges. How did you pronounce that?”

“suh-RATED?”

“That’s how you say that? ‘suh-RATED’?”

“Uh, yeah. What’s the problem?”

“Oh, nothing. Nothing. It’s just supposed to be pronounced SAIR-ated.”

“‘SAIR-ated’? Are you kidding? What is that?”

“That’s how the word is pronounced.”

“It sounds so stupid. ‘SAIR-ated’.”

“Well it sounds a hell of a lot better than ‘suh-RATED’! Only an idiot would pronounce it like that.”

“You know what? That is so typical of you. Why do I ever expect you to change?”

“Me? Change? Why, am I the one who saved a bunch of my sister’s beach photos to a hidden folder on our computer?”

“You told me you forgave me for that!”

“I did until you started in with this ‘suh-RATED’ crap. Now I don’t know why I ever bothered.”

“Nobody put a gun to your head! You know where the door is!”

“Of course you will! Now that you drank all the wine, what’s keeping you?”
