“Mind if I grab a soda from the fridge?”
No, not at all.
“Cool, thanks. Hey, what’s up with all the empty Lock & Lock storage containers in here?”
Oh, those aren’t empty.
“Really? Cuz I have a pretty unobstructed view straight through the hollow-center silicone in all of them.”
It’s this new therapist I’ve been seeing lately. She says I carry around a lot of baggage, so when it gets too heavy, I just lock it away in these BPA-free airtight containers.
“Like … what kind of baggage?”
You know. Jealousy. Rage. Self-loathing. That sort of thing.
“So you just lock your feelings up in these containers and store them in the fridge?”
The freezer too. Just depends which feelings we’re talking about here. They all have different shelf lives, you know.
“What’s in this one?”
Fear of abandonment.
“And this one?”
Shattered dreams.
“And this?”
Feelings of inadequacy.
“Huh. So are they microwavable?”
The containers? Yes. And dishwasher safe, too. But my co-dependency isn’t. So just be careful with that one, OK?
