You’re Supposed To Be The Nice Country

Happy Canada Day, Canada! Now please, stop thinking we all hate you. It makes us very sad.

Canada, we love you, we really really do. And it makes us sad when your citizens think otherwise. We see them visit our forums and say hurtful things, beating us like we were somebody’s car on a Vancouver street, but what can we do? It’s not like we control tariffs and duty fees! We’re just one little wholly-owned subsidiary!

Listen, Canada, this isn’t personal. We can still send you t-shirts if you want. And we really wish we could sell you something like the Samsung Modus Bluetooth Headset Kit. Partly because we know you’d enjoy the dual-microphone with noise/echo canceling technologies, and partly because we think we’ve sold Bluetooth headsets to just about every human being in America at this point. Oh, and P.S. to Americans: if you don’t already have one, this is your chance to get on board. It’ll even work with your Android phone.

But back to you, Canada. We’re sorry if you feel left out of the Woot experience, honest. But to ship across your border, it would just cost more in fees and in time, and there’s the whole issue about how we put fresh fruit in all the boxes and the guys at the border would just absolutely go crazy over that. We’re really kinda between a rock and a hard place here, just like you are. And that’s sad, because this is YOUR day. But maybe, just maybe, we’ve got a solution.

All you guys have to do is send us the deeds to your land, as much of your land as possible. If we get enough land, we can make a few calls to the United States government (they always take calls from corporations, you know) and we can get some kind of shipping artery set up. After that’s done, all you’ll need to do is drive to your local “Nation Of Woot” junction and we can have somebody there to just hand you the package. Pretty sweet, right? And what’s a little sovereignty between friends? Especially when you’ve got all that free space between your cities!

We know you’re a happy, independent nation up there, Canada, and we respect that, especially on Canada Day. We’re just sorry that all we can offer you right now is t-shirts and blog posts. But please, don’t feel insulted by this little quirk of borders, okay? After all, we’re still treating you better than we do Mexico.
