Apple 8GB iPod touch – Current Gen

Hi Mom,

Sorry I missed your calls this week, I actually don’t have a phone anymore so that’s probably going to keep happening. Dad emailed and said you called about four times over the weekend but couldn’t catch me. Again, mom: I don’t have a phone. I know you call my iPod Touch a “phone” but that’s not actually correct. It can play music, browse the internet via Wi-Fi, and all that smartphone stuff, but it cannot make calls. You’re the only person I was talking to on the phone to, so I decided to just ditch it altogether.

Why don’t we Skype or FaceTime soon? That way we can actually see each other while we talk, and I can give you a tour of my new apartment. I know I’ve recommended that in my previous 83 emails, but I really think maybe it’s time you stopped trying to call my defunct phone number and just learned how to use Facetime.

To draw an analogy, imagine if Grammy was still sending you telegrams long after any service had stopped providing telegram delivery. That would be pretty frustrating, right? And just as Grammy was able to lay that technology to rest, maybe it’s time you stopped depending entirely on the telephone as a means of communication. (And while you’re at it, will you please stop writing checks at the grocery store. There’s just no need.)

To answer the question you almost certainly left in a voicemail that I can no longer check: No, I don’t know how my brother is doing and whether he is thinking about moving out of New York City anytime soon. And I’m not sure yet what I’m doing for Thanksgiving, but thank you for inviting me home (probably).

OK mom, hope you’re doing well and aren’t falling into a spiral of dementia.

Love,

Sarah
