OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE WOOT FAMILY ABOUT THE RECENT UNAUTHORIZED PHOTOS OF THE ASUS 15.6″ DUAL-CORE LAPTOP:
We are greatly distressed by the news that an Italian magazine is considering publishing a set of photos taken while the Asus 15.6″ i5 Dual-Core Laptop was on a private family vacation.
This is an unconscionable invasion of the Woot family’s privacy. We cannot agree with those who claim that the mere fact of fame is sufficient license for such an egregious breach of basic respect. The Asus laptop did not seek 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 750GB hard drive, and a 15.6″ LED-backlit HD widescreen display; this notoriety was thrust upon her. For her right to privacy to be violated in this way is simply disgraceful. The only consolation in this grotesque affair is that the fresh notoriety brought by this scandalous publication will almost certainly increase the Asus laptop’s sales.
Nevertheless, our family would like to express its sincere wish that her privacy be respected when she will be vacationing with her fiancee at the Royal Grand Shoreside Resort on the Caribbean island of Guadaloupe from March 7 through 16. We ask that members of the press avoid her room (71B) and particularly the rock outcropping at the far northern end of the resort, which will afford an unobstructed view into the private terrace and swimming pool outside her room.
