Chastity and Purity sat in their dorm room, discussing the declining role of the traditional nuclear family in today’s society (for their Social Anthropology class) when the heavenly aroma of toasted finger foods wafted through the door.

“So like I was saying, I think it’s a real shame … hey, do you smell that?” said Purity, stopping short of finishing her thought.

“Is it … NO. It couldn’t be. Pizza Rolls?” said Chastity as she got up and tracked the delicious scent like a bloodhound out of their room and across the hall. She stopped in front of Honor’s door.

“She has a towel stuffed in the crack under the door. She’s trying to hide something!” said Purity.

“She knows better. We’re not allowed to have toaster ovens in here! If she gets caught they’ll … well, they’ll probably just make her get rid of it but STILL,” said Chastity.

They knocked on the door and waited. On the other side, they heard someone suddenly scurry around and then say, “Coming! Hold on just a sec.” After nearly a minute, Honor opened the door a crack.

“Hey! Hey guys. What’s up?” she said nervously.

“We know you have a toaster oven in there, Honor!” said Purity.

“Yeah!” said Chastity. “And if you don’t give up the goods, a.k.a. the Pizza Rolls, we’re tellin’ the R.A.!”

Honor quickly threw open the door and beckoned them inside. “Shhhh. Just get in here. Quick, before someone hears you.”

“A-HA!” said Purity as soon as she saw the Breville Toaster Oven sitting on Honor’s desk, partially obscured by a stack of textbooks and a trash can.

“Oooh, you are gonna be in SO much trouble,” said Chastity.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” said Honor as she shifted slightly to the side to hide the exposed part of the 1800-watt convection toaster oven attractively housed in reinforced stainless steel.

“Oh please,” said Chastity pushes past her. “We can see it right here!”

“Yeah,” said Purity. “AND we can SMELL it. Sounds like they’re just about done,” she said as the sound alert went off on the time dial.

“OK, OK,” conceded Honor as she slipped on an oven mitt, opened the door and removed the 13″ non-stick pizza pan. The Pizza Rolls were perfectly golden and bubbling at the seams.

Honor divided them into three plates. Chastity and Purity both snatched up a roll and bit into the piping hot snack, burning the roofs of their mouths simultaneously.

“Careful!” said Honor. “The convection fan on this thing makes sure they get cooked thoroughly inside AND out.”

“I know you’re probably gonna end up burning this whole place down with that thing,” said Purity between bites. “But I totally don’t even care right now. These are soooo good.”

“That’s not going to happen. I picked this one because it got a really great review on Consumer Reports. Plus, it has nine pre-set functions and an automatic shut-off,” explained Honor. “So even if my roommate comes home drunk, decides to make a snack and then passes out, it’s all good.”

The three girls sat in silence for a few moments, too busy munching on their delicious treats to talk. Charity broke the silence when she pointed at the top bunk, where a leg still sporting a 6-inch stiletto and a heavily-bangled arm were dangling over the edge from under the covers.

“That totally happened last night, didn’t it?” she asked. But it was a rhetorical question.
