Bumbo Floor Seat w/ Play Tray
Wednesday, September 5, 2012
Amanda felt like the World’s Worst Mother. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she gazed into the smiling face of her baby boy, Gavin.
“HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO STUPID?! He could have DIED!” She admonished herself aloud.
“Just LOOK at him! He’s clearly traumatized!” she thought as the baby rolled around on his back making raspberry noises. He attempted to stick his entire foot in his mouth, but only managed the big toe.
After what had happened, she was doubting everything about her parenting abilities, and started to run down a mental list of people who would be willing and able to care for her children in the very likely event they be taken away from her.
She was trying not to think about it, but when the thought popped into her head, she cringed. She had placed Gavin in his Bumbo Chair to help him learn to sit upright. She remembered to fasten the restraint belt to eliminate the chance of him maneuvering out of it. Then she attached the tray and placed a few of his favorite toys on top. That’s when she noticed it.
Amanda had inadvertently placed the seat partially on the wooden transition strip between Gavin’s carpeted bedroom and the laminate hallway so that it was slightly raised on one side, when the warning label CLEARLY STATED that the chair was only to be used on flat, ground-level surfaces.
She sobbed at the thought of what could have happened, and made sure to keep a safe distance from Gavin who was now cooing happily at the dangling animals on his crib mobile.
