D-Link 5-Port Desktop Switch – $1.99

I’ve tried being nice.
You Wi-Fi thieves have forced my hand.
When I set up my wireless network, I thought my home office would be relocated to Easy Street. I had it all set up: the printer, the laptop, the desktop, the camera, everything. I was all networked up and ready to go, and since I try to treat my fellow man with trust and dignity, I didn’t even password-protect the network. “Who would want to siphon my connection?” I thought, naively.
SoccerSteve009. That’s who.
At first I wasn’t sure why he was even on my home network. Then came the lewd things printed on my printer, the photos conveniently missing from my camera, and the time he deleted all my laptop’s music files. So I went hardwired and got myself a D-Link 5-Port Desktop Switch. It didn’t need any software, which was good because I’m not the most technically proficient cat around. And it has up to 200mbps throughput, whatever that means.
So now I’m rockin’ my network again, connected via wires and impervious to the menacing machinations of SoccerSteve009. And since this thing is pretty much plug-and-play, I can use my network without having to monitor my network. It’s a big relief, that’s for sure.
Now if I could just find a way to hide all these damn cords I keep tripping over, I’d be set.
