Everyone Needs to be More Like This Kid and Less Like These Girls

So there’s this kid named iTr3vor who’s got a thing for dancing in Apple stores, apparently. He goes in, fires up a webcam, plays a song, and dances his little heart out. One video in particular though has stood out to the internet:

This being the internet and all, it’d be pretty easy to hate on iTr3vor. He listens to Will.I.Am for cryin’ out loud. He goes to Apple stores. He wears silly glasses. He’s not THAT great a dancer. But no. We can’t hate on iTr3vor, because he’s doing his own thing. We say let your (best approximation possible of a) freak flag fly, iTr3vor.

But we are gonna take a minute to hate on the girls behind him.

Kids, when your best crack at being “eccentric” involves buying a hat made from a stuffed animal head and wearing it as if you’re making a statement, you officially lose any and all right to judge anyone else on ANYTHING, much less for doing something novel.

And if you can’t even be bothered to show that ridiculous token gesture at least have the decency to hide your shame and just walk away rather than guffawing and attempting to publicly judge someone just for being different.

I know, adolescence is hard; and sticking out is the surest way to get clobbered down the social pecking order. Unfortunately if you’re one of the lucky ones you’ll only dimly become aware that none of it matters until you’re in college. Even then you won’t be able to accept that groundbreaking concept completely and it will take some time for you to truly believe it.

In the meantime girls, you’re contributing to everything that’s wrong with the world. If less of us sat in judgment of others and more of us put on goofy glasses and had impromptu dance parties the world would be a much cooler place and everyone would probably feel a lot better about themselves.
