Flash In The Brain Pan: Hacker vs Hacker
Friday, June 3, 2011
There are a million “break the enemies fortress” games out there, sure. But none of them combine SimCity and Dr. Mario as elegantly as Hacker Vs. Hacker.
You get to be the guy on the left. Customize your look, your chair and your desk, and then jump into… VIRTUALLLLL REALITYYYYY! The resistors and capacitors on the board give you different abilities and defenses, and the right design will come in handy against your opponent’s viruses. Stop them early, because if you don’t, they’ll wipe your board clean.
Your opponent has a board too, and that’s where it gets a little tricky. You’ve gotta bust through on him, but you’ve only got so much energy to use, so the wrong balance of attack and defense can leave you all Windows 95. As you can see from that screenshot above, one small mistake can open a huge hole. Incidentally, we hear that’s the same pattern Shimomura used on Kevin Mitnick.
Thankfully, each game earns you some points to spend on upgrades. When strategy fails, win through technology! It’s the American way! So if you’re the type of person who can’t be bothered with the command line, Hacker Vs. Hacker is your chance to finally feel 1337. Just keep in mind that sending high scores to Julian Assange might be a Federal crime, and he probably won’t care anyway. Dude doesn’t really seem like a flash game fan.
