Sylvia flopped on the couch and grabbed the remote. “PAMELA! I DON’T WANT ANY MORE OF THAT RUM CAKE, OKAY?”
Pamela peeked around the corner. “Did I hear you right? You don’t want any more rum cake?”
Sylvia huffed. “I couldn’t sleep all night, okay? I kept having dreams about these people in blue costumes. They were closing in around me, and smiling. Too creepy.”
“And you’re blaming the rum cake?”
“Pamela, if it wasn’t what I ate, what was it?”
Pamela waved her hands. “Come with me. Don’t say anything.”
Sylvia followed her friend out into the hallway. There, lying against the elevator were the blue Forever Lazy fleece outfits. Sylvia opened her mouth wide and pointed.
“THAT’S WHAT I SAW!”
“Of course it was, Sylvia. Because you came staggering back from Rod’s at three in the morning, and you passed this on the way to your bed. You probably saw all these comfy snuggle-sacks and your brain did the rest.”
Sylvia scowled. “Where did these even COME from?”
“Honestly?” Pamela answered. “I couldn’t even guess. This place has really gone downhill since you moved out, Sylvia.”
And Sylvia could only nod.
