“And this is my Haan Multi Purpose Steam Cleaner,” Purity told the other girls. “I know I don’t need it this year, but when I make R.A. it’ll be a vital part of my leadership strategy.”
Chastity and Honor nodded. Honor’s roommate snorted in what was most likely agreement. She was busy texting Phil about when he might give her a ride somewhere. The reception was better in here, and Honor assumed that was the only reason why her roommate was so interested in learning about Purity’s Six Year Plan To Conquer College.
The plan was written in small, sparkly, felt-and-tape letters across the back of the door. There was a little pouch of red arrow-shaped pins hanging from the knob, and every time Purity achieved another goal, she could push the pin into the felt and keep track! Purity had to order the arrows special, and in fact changed the plan to six years, instead of four, after mistakenly ordering an extra pack! Honor considered that the mark of a truly dedicated soul. The door already boasted “find the library” and “register to vote!” while “Become an R.A.” was roughly a year ahead. Honor wasn’t even sure that was possible to be a sophomore R.A., but if anyone could do it, her new friend Purity could.
“You see,” Purity said as she gestured at the HAAN Complete Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner, “My first promise will be that my own suite will always be THE cleanest place in the dorm. Think locally, change globally!”
“Phil says that’s not the phrase,” answered Honor’s Roommate. Purity looked through her.
“Well, that will be MY phrase then! And here’s how I plan to start. First, I’ll use the grout and tile brushes to steam out the corruption along the edges of the bathroom. Then, I’ll use the glass cleaning attachment to steam the windows so clear that no injustice will be able to hide behind them!”
“Phil says everyone will see you taking a shower.” Honor’s roommate laughed. Purity glared.
“Phil isn’t on the R.A. committee. And when THEY see how well my HAAN Complete Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaner and I get jobs done right the first time-“
“Phil wants to know what kind of jobs… oh! Hahahaha! He made a dirty joke! Oh, he’s so bad! I’m telling him how bad he is right now.”
Purity dropped the flexible steam hose in frustration. Honor was pretty sure that the arrow for “murder a suitemate” would be created later tonight.
