Harvard 7.6′ Air-Powered Hockey Table
Monday, July 23, 2012
Oh I say, what a positively smashing Harvard 7.6 Feet Air-Powered Hockey Table! Why, the gang and I used to while away the hours at a little place we called The Crimson Cantina just slappin’ plastic! Ah, the heady days of youth. We used to bet on games. We had a tournament structure and everything. Loser always had to buy a poor person lunch! Ha! Can you imagine?! One fellow, I liked to call him “Walter Mitty,” would lose again and again and again, but he just kept insisting on playing. I used to give him a hard time about how he of all people would seem in tune with a small piece of plastic, but he never took it very well. He’d bang on that heavy-duty tapered cabinet until the tapered post legs would almost get to rocking. Almost, mind you, those legs were exceptionally sturdy. But the electronic scoreboard inlaid in the playbed never lied; ol’ Walter Mitty never won a single match.
Of course we nearly had a brouhaha one year when he absolutely refused to hold up his end of the deal and buy lunch for one of the “normies.” Claimed economic hardship, at which we all had a tremendous laugh, but when pressed for evidence he absolutely refused to provide any sort of records supporting his claim.
I wonder whatever happened to that chap?
