Infrared R/C Helicopter w/ Gyro

It was just too hot outside. Olivia was in her room, lying down with a book. Her door was open. This was the perfect chance for Jake to practice steering his Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter. Out of the variety of choices, he’d chosen the glow in the dark chopper… for just this reason.

Of course, since she was an older sister, Olivia had developed excellent peripheral vision. That would be Jake’s challenge. If he could get his Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter through the door unseen, the rest would take care of itself.

Jake had been practicing for a few weeks now, and he was starting to understand his instrument. At night, the glow-in-the-dark body was easy to see and since he didn’t have school the next morning, he could stay up as late as he wanted… as long as he was quiet about it. So from his top bunk he would send the “Night Hunter” up, left, right, down, in a 360 degree turn, and then freeze it with a gentle hover. And if he could fly it in the dark, he could fly it around a corner… right?

Jake lay down in the hallway with the gyroscope remote control close to his face. The Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter was on the carpet in front of him. Slowly, he watched Olivia turn the pages of her book. It seemed to take hours. Jake could hear his own breathing, the air conditioner, the sound of paper brushing against paper. And then, at last, Olivia rolled on her side. Now was the time to strike!

Jake switched on the Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter and sent it into the air. The buzzing noise was covered by the sound of the AC turning on; it was a lucky break for Jake! With her back to the door, Olivia couldn’t see the helicopter moving her way.

Jake lowered the Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter. Steady. Steady. Steady. Soon it was hovering just above Olivia’s hair. Jake moved to the left and then the right. It was his victory lap. He’d proven his mastery of the Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter

And that was when Olivia decided to sit up.

No pilot on Earth would have been fast enough to dodge at that range, but Jake tried. Olivia let out a shriek as the Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter unexpectedly clipped her head. It fell to the floor, Jake heard his mother calling. “Olivia? Are you okay?”

Olivia turned to look out the door. Jake couldn’t move. Olivia looked at Jake, then picked up the Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter. Jake didn’t say a word.

“Yes, Mom, I’m fine.” Olivia called back. She held the Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter on her palm. Jake couldn’t look away.

“If I ever catch this in my room again, this is what I’ll do to you.” With her free hand, Olivia pulled at the tail blade. After a few seconds of pressure, it came off. Without looking away she dropped the Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter on the floor of the hall. Then she went in her room and, still glaring, closed the door.

Jake waited for a few seconds, then went to get his Infrared Multi-Channel Indoor R/C Helicopter. After he put the included extra tail blade in place, it would be as good as new.
