We’re seeing more and more knives left out in the cold like this.
It’s just a tragedy.
I blame Food Network, to be honest. People see all these fancy chefs making beautiful entrees and they think, “Hey, I wanna do that too!” So they run out and buy some fancy knives, like these Kai Tan Ren 2-Piece Sets, not thinking about how it will actually be to care for them.
Then two months later they’re shocked when it can’t hold an edge. I see it all the time. People bring them in saying things like, “I don’t know; I run it through the dishwasher every night. How can it be so beat up already?” Makes your heart just break.
That’s why I started Sarah McLachlan’s Home for Abused and Neglected Knives. We rehabilitate these guys, give ‘em a good honing and a proper wet stone. Then we find them new homes with families who’ll love them and treat them right.
Who? The singer? No, she’s got nothing to do with the place. I just liked the name. Plus those songs are so depressing, it really helps rake in the donations.
