Krups Pump Espresso

“There you go, Dani,” Lisa said, placing a drink in front of her before sitting across from her at the coffee shop table. “One mocha latte with cinnamon, as requested.”
“Thanks, but are you sure you don’t want to me to give you some money? I mean, I could’ve just as easily made us some drinks with my Krups Pump Espresso maker back at my apartment.”
Lisa waved her off. “No way. Not today,” she said as she reached into her purse for something to tie back her blonde hair. Danielle couldn’t help but notice the eyes of the men in the shop looking right at her friend as she pulled her hair back into a ponytail. Lisa always seemed to have that effect. “You save that 15 bar pump and E.S.E. pod-compatible wonder for some other time. Today, its steam nozzle may rest in celebration. Not only do I now have a decent, not-as-of-yet-soul-crushing job at Ruttles that will pay my bills, as long as I can avoid anymore creepy creepsters wanting ‘personal home delivery’ from me…”
“Which, by the way, ew.”
“I know, right? I felt so awful for his wife who was standing right there. At least, I think it was his wife. I don’t think people speak pig latin to each other unless they’re married.”
“So weird.”
“BUT,” Lisa said, straightening her back and sticking out her chest with pride that made one guy at a nearby table audibly gasp, “I also got the part in that thing I was telling you about! Remember? The short soap opera thing?”
“What?! You mean the web series called you back?”
“They totally did! I’m playing the lead role, Dani! I mean, I know it’s just a silly Internet thing, but it’s the lead! And it could go viral!” As Lisa bounced up and down with excitement, a woman across from them smacked her glaring husband and left the shop in a huff.
“That’s so great,” Danielle said. “I’m so happy for you. Seriously, you are going to make the best quirky young woman finding her way in the big city while dealing with her equally quirky neighbors ever, I just know it. Have you read the script yet?”
Lisa face fell a little. “Yeah. It’s not great. You know how these things are: everyone’s in love with everyone, everyone’s got a secret, and a lot of really clunky exposition about the products for the sponsors, that sort of thing. I’m sure it’ll get better, though. Hopefully.”
Danielle cringed as she swallowed her mocha. “Eek. Sounds like something that may need to sit on the boiler plate heating element of my Krups Pump Espresso maker until it’s ready.”
The two women stopped what they were doing and stared silently at each other a moment. “I’m sorry,” Danielle said. “I don’t know why I just said that.”
“Yeah, that was weird.”
“Definitely.”
