Krups Pump Espresso
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
Between the cabinets, up in the white kitchen, I could see them pumping. They were using the Krups Espresso Machine, and Luster pumped and then the other pump. The steam frother and the white milk and pumping.
“Hush up that moanin’.” He pumped. “Look at you, on thirty years and makin’ a fuss at a little espresso.” Luster said.
Caddy unhooked my sleeve from the water tank. Refill it, Benjy, like this. She let the water run from the tap cool and loud. The Krups machine was loud. Caddy’s neck was long and white.
“C’mon now, quit yer fussing.” Luster said. “What are you at, tryin’ to make a latte?”
I grabbed the pre-portioned espresso pod. It was chalky. It smelled like Caddy. I put it in the Krups and pulled a shot of espresso. “Well I’ll be, Benjy. You’re makin’ it.” I frothed the milk. It smelled hot and sweet like a baby cow lying in the barn as her mother licked her.
“I reckon this really is fool-proof.” Luster said.
