Merleaux Sonoma County Red Blend (5)
Sunday, November 11, 2012
I see you over there. Smiling all ironically with your glass of Merleaux Merlot in hand. Wearing your Department of the Redundancy Department shirt. While that last part makes me want to punch you in the face a little, I can appreciate the creativity and wit behind your clever little name.
What I can appreciate more, however, is the wine itself. The Cajun spices. The rich, opulent full body with a smooth, lasting finish. The superbly blended mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Barbera, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Sangiovese. Nothing ironic. Nothing pretentious. Just a good wine with that certain je ne sais quoi. C’est delicieux, Non? No?
OK, now I want to punch myself in the face a little.
