The MicroVision SHOWWX Laser Pico Projector? Yeah, we’re good friends. He looks a lot taller on TV.

But it’s like I was telling Kate Gosselin and Mitch Albom on Dave Grohl’s yacht: “Nobody likes a name-dropper.” Prattling on and on about all the celebrities you supposedly hang out with can ruin a social gathering the way Madeleine Albright ruined Baba Booey’s daughter’s bat mitzvah, except without the nudity and bloodshed.

So when somebody starts raving to me about the MicroVision SHOWWX Laser Pico Projector, I just smile and nod. “Always in focus, you say? On surfaces from 6 inches away up to 200 inches away? And it fits right in your pocket? Yes, that is impressive.” There’s no point in telling them that I first learned about the MicroVision SHOWWX when Elijah Wood used it to show off some crisp, vibrant video from his iPod of Kerri Strug’s birthday party on Darius Rucker’s private island. They’d just roll their eyes and think I was some kind of fame hag.

And I certainly don’t let on that the MicroVision SHOWWX and I were briefly married in the early 2000s. Then I’d have to explain how he left me for Famke Janssen after the tabloids got ahold of some pictures of me frolicking with Henry Rollins on the beaches of the Cote d’Azur. It’s painful to dredge up those old memories, and they’d probably write me off as some pathetic, delusional mental case anyway.
