Taxonomy Gone Wild: Spring Break Edition

Well, I was a little worried about getting my son a Samsung 15.3” Quad-Core i7 Laptop, but it all seems to have worked out just fine.

I admit it, as a concerned parent, I knew all the horrible things you can find out there on the Internet. And I know how a teenage boy thinks, so I was nervous! How could I monitor him when he could take his Samsung 15.3” Quad-Core i7 Laptop from room to room and STILL be connected via the 802.11b/g/n advanced WiMAX Wi-Fi?

So it’s great that, instead of using the 6GB of DDR3 RAM for some nefarious purpose, he’s instead using it to do research on birdwatching. Just a quick search of the 750GB hard drive revealed photo after photo, all about this one specific species of bird! Admittedly I didn’t open any of them, but I saw the file names, and they were all pretty clear! He’s sure got a lot of them, though. Even started saving them to DVD via the SuperMulti DVD burner drive.

But you know what? So be it! If my son wants to spend his free time with a wholesome hobby like categorizing the avian kingdom, I’ve got no problem with it. He can specialize all he wants. Might even get him college credit if he turns into an expert. Just imagine, my boy standing up there, plugging in the NVIDIA® GeForce GT525M graphics card with it’s 1GB dedicated memory and teaching those professors a thing or two about his favorite kind of bird! Oh, it just warms my heart, it does.

And did you know his eagerness seems to be spreading to his friends? I’ve noticed several young ladies he knows seem to be regularly emailing him photos, all alleging to be of the breed he most fancies. Since the Samsung 15.3” Quad-Core i7 Laptop is WiDi ready I keep asking him to plug in the adapter I bought (it wasn’t included, you see) and show off his collection on our big screen television, but he always sort of “forgets” about it. I can’t blame him, I rebelled against my dad when I was his age too. It’s just part of growing up.

Anyway, I’m just glad the Samsung 15.3” Quad-Core i7 Laptop has helped him be interested in biology instead of all that smutty stuff. What could be more wholesome than a sweet little bird?
