Stansport 9′-7″ Inflatable Boat

Before the great Age Of Sail of the 16th-19th centuries, there was the Age of Rafts. Inflatable boats like the Stansport Kenai 9-Foot Raft were the transportation of choice for spice merchants, pirates, and other ocean-goers. However, the Age of Rafts ended abruptly in 1531, with the invention of pointy things.

Raftsmen (as they were called) would inflate their craft with a foot pump and set out with naught but a pair of oars and a two-compartment inflatable floor. Life was good for the raftsman, as he could go anywhere he chose in comfort. But after the advent of pointy things, rafting on the open seas became a perilous affair.

Historians write of the first great naval fleet action between the Dutch and Spain after the invention of pointy things. The picture they paint is grisly: Thousands of men drowned after their rafts were easily punctured by swords, arrows, darts, daggers, sharpened sticks, and other pointy things.

Today our rafts our built out of sturdier material, such as 38 mil k80 pvc. But the pointy thing will always be the scourge of the intrepid raftsman.
