Stein Magic Hour White Moscato Rosato(6)

Imagine, if you will, two friends having a laugh. Over a bottle of wine one makes the audacious suggestion: why not a white that is also a red? And, as friends will do, the joke soon becomes a dare. Before long, the two friends find themselves in a place they shouldn’t be, at a time they didn’t expect. Maybe they should have checked their watches. They might have noticed it was… the Magic Hour.

The Stein family masterpiece, they said. A Moscato mixed with Cabernet Franc. They called it “rosato” and said it would work with food, rather than against. Too late did they learn what that meant.

It started with little notes of watermelon. Like chimes on a summer night, surely no one would mind. The Stein family laughed with glee, their “rosato” would be light, with lower alcohol but flavors no less complex.

Then came the appetizers. “Surely,” they thought, “a wine such as this would be perfect for a warm evening on the deck, or perhaps a sunset picnic!” They raised their glasses to their genius.

But the next morning, as they drank their Moscato 6 Pack, it hit them… the wine was too good. Crisp and compelling, always enhancing their little bites and nibbles. They couldn’t share this wine with the world. They had to keep it for themselves. “Yes,” they thought. “For the family.”

The first day, it was easy. There were so many delicious bottles, plenty for all! But on the second day, there were fewer. The third day, there were fewer still. And so, the suspicious glances began. And the mumbling. And the plotting.

They say that when the family friend returned, he found only empty bottles, and a board on which “STAY AWAY!” was painted in red. Never did he know what had happened to the Stein Family, or their brilliant Moscato. All he could be sure about was the six remaining bottles, which he took for himself. They say he wasn’t brave enough to try the delicious flavor. But who knows? Maybe out there is someone brave enough to pull the cork, fill a glass, and take a drink. Because, as every wine fan knows, somewhere in the world right now… it’s the Magic Hour.
