I know what you’re thinking. You want that want 1up. You want it SO bad. You see it as your only chance to live. But wait, before you grab it, consider what kind of life will it be?

Constantly down pipes, in dungeons, always moving forward, never pausing to reflect on what it is you really want in life. Just gotta keep going, gotta get the coins and the girl. But what will you use those coins to buy? And how do you know you and the princess are even right for each other?

No, if you ask me, you just leave that 1up right there and you find one of those holes – you know, the ones you can fall into that shouldn’t be there, because you don’t die but you can’t get out – and you just stay there. Is it exciting? No, but at least it’s stable.
